Take Action Travel Plan
Do not let your voice be drowned out by the roar of engines!

Currently, they have closed the initial comment period on their Proposed Action, and are projected to release a draft Plan for comment in March, 2009. Comments to Forest Supervisor Steve Ellis will still have an impact during this period, but Letters to the Editor of your local paper will have an even greater impact. We need to support the Wallowa-Whitman’s proposal vociferously, to show them that the majority of forest users want to limit motorized-vehicles on the forest.
Be Part of the Process!
The Travel Plan revision has the potential to curb further motorized vehicle damage on the Wallowa-Whitman. Hells Canyon Preservation Council is playing a key role in ensuring that this process is effective and balanced in approach. HCPC is pushing for protection of wildlife, water, soil and non-motorized recreation. If the rule takes effect, it will leave open thousands of miles of roads, but will close cross-country travel and roads that are already closed to full-sized vehicles. Please be a part of the process and be vocal about your views of the future of our precious natural resources.
