What We Do: Ecosystem Conservation

Hells Canyon Preservation Council was founded with an Ecosystem Conservation program, which at that time consisted of stopping the damming of Hells Canyon. Today, we continue that history. Federal public lands in the Hells Canyon/ Wallowas/ Blue Mountains area provide a diverse range of natural assets that need to be conserved and protected for the overall well being of the ecosystem and future generations. Protecting the natural functions and processes is important for a balanced, self-sustaining ecosystem.

All proposed actions by federal agencies on public lands need to be reviewed and analyzed to understand the impacts they may have on our dynamic living environment.
