EVENING HIGHLIGHTS

Join us and become a Hellraiser for Oregon’s wild lands, water, and habitats!

Don't miss this exciting evening celebrating 53 years of Greater Hells Canyon Council's successes. Hellraiser 2020 kicks off at 6 pm at the inspiring Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI). Hellraiser 2020 includes a spirited social hour featuring local wines and beer, a delicious dinner, an energizing live auction, and a timely and important message from keynote speaker Bobbie Conner, director of Tamástslikt (Tah-MAHST-slickt) Cultural Institute.

The proceeds from the night enhance Greater Hells Canyon Council's reach to connect, protect, and restore the Greater Hells Canyon Region. We are excited to share some of our new initiatives to engage and energize people to get outside and develop a relationship with this special place in the Northwest. So, get registered, grab an Oregon wine or beer, learn more about what we do, and join GHCC staff and board in celebration of the Greater Hells Canyon Region and how YOU can make a difference!

Come join a community that honors our home's history, life cycles, wild spaces, and native plants and animals.

We can't wait to see you!

Tickets $90/person

Social hour begins @ 6pm

Dinner and presentation @ 7pm

In the event we have to cancel due to health concerns, ticket costs will be refunded. We are assessing other fun options, such as an online auction, should we have to cancel.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER Bobbie Conner

“Covenants, Competition, and Change: Tribal Life Then and Now.”

The ancient laws and cycles that the ancestors of the Cayuse, Walla Walla, Umatilla and Nez Perce followed required reciprocity, renewal, and relationship. To survive, all of these are still relevant and vital to everyone who lives here now.

Bobbie Conner.jpg

Bobbie is the director of Tamástslikt (Tah-MAHST-slickt) Cultural Institute, the 45,000 square foot tribally-owned museum on the Umatilla Reservation near Pendleton, Oregon, which opened in 1998.  The Institute serves three goals:  to accurately present the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla peoples’ history, to perpetuate knowledge of their history and culture, and to contribute to the Tribal economy.

Bobbie is Cayuse, Umatilla and Nez Perce, is enrolled at the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla, and is a graduate of Pendleton High School, the University of Oregon, and Willamette University’s Atkinson Graduate School of Management.

She serves on the Eastern Oregon University and Oregon Historical Society Boards of Trustees and the Ecotrust and Oregon Community Foundation Boards of Directors. She is also a director on the inaugural board of the Nixyáawii Community Financial Services (NCFS), an emerging Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).

Tamástslikt (Tah-mahst-slickt) means turn, translate or interpret in Wallulapam.

The three Tribes comprise the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR).
