Before and After in La Grande

La Grande is small by comparison to many cities, but it is the largest town on the Blue Mountains Trail and the approximate midway point for thru-hikers. This was an important stop on the Oregon Trail. Visitors can see remnant wagon tracks at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Park. La Grande is a full service community, offering many options for lodging, shopping, and restaurants. The Press Room Cafe is a great place for morning coffee. Make sure to make an entry to the BMT register in the reading room. After that, stop by the Liberty Theater Cafe for a meal and a loaf of fresh bread to go. Finish your day with dinner at Side A brewing or the naturally fed soaking pools just south of town at Hot lake Lodge.
