Greater Hells Canyon Council
A night of fundraising and advocacy for a wild greater hells canyon region
Saturday, May 8, 2021
This year's event was virtual
Thank you to everyone who helped us raise some hell for Oregon’s wild lands, water, and habitats!
Hellraiser 2021 celebrated 54 years of Greater Hells Canyon Council's successes. If you missed the event, held on Saturday, May 8, you can watch a replay of it now. While we would have loved to host a live event like years past, this year's event was held virtually.
Hellraiser 2021 featured our work on the Blue Mountains Trail. It included an energizing live auction, and an inspiring presentation from keynote speaker Renee Patrick, Oregon Desert Trail Coordinator from ONDA, who recently completed the first solo thru-hike of the Blue Mountains Trail.
The proceeds from the night enhance Greater Hells Canyon Council's reach to connect, protect, and restore the Greater Hells Canyon Region and help fund our work on the Blue Mountains Trail. We are excited to engage and energize people to get outside and develop a relationship with this special place in the Northwest.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us for an amazing event!
In October 2020, Renee Patrick completed the first solo thru-hike of the Blue Mountains Trail while the route was still in development. She endured 100+ degree days along the crest of the Strawberry Mountains in August and subzero conditions on the Elkhorn Crest in October. Along the way she kept a trail journal and blog, sharing her stories of the amazing landscapes on the trail, the history of the effort and the region, and how recreation and conservation can work toward a common goal.
Renee has logged over 10,000 miles on a multitude of trails in her many thru-hikes. She brings and a rich cross-section of wilderness teaching skills to her work. She completed the triple crown of long-distance trails in the United States—Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Continental Divide Trail. She has led trail crews, guided wilderness therapy trips, taught lightweight backpacking, and served as the Continental Divide Trail’s first Trail Ambassador.
Renee works for Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA). She is responsible for establishing the 750-mile Oregon Desert Trail, shaping its future, and inspiring others to get out and explore the high desert as much as possible. In addition, Renee leads ONDA’s independent stewards program and is working to educate and inspire others to experience our desert landscapes responsibly. She lives in Bend, Oregon.
Here’s how it works: We're selling just 99 Golden Raffle Tickets for $100 each. When you buy yours, you choose one amazing vacation from our eligible live auction travel packages. We’ll draw the winning ticket just before the auction on May 8th, and award the chosen package to the raffle winner. You do not need to be present on the livestream to win, making this a wonderful way to raise some hell for conservation in the Greater Hells Canyon Region.
You may purchase more than one raffle ticket, and we will continue selling them until all 99 are sold. Each raffle ticket must be purchased in a separate transaction to ensure the ticket aligns with the auction package of your choosing.
Like Hellraisers of years past, we will have a compelling slate of silent and live auction packages available for you to bid on. Come prepared to bid live on these packages on May 8th, and start planning your future vacation today!
