Greater Hells Canyon Council
invites you to
A night of fundraising and advocacy for a wild greater hells canyon region
June 1, 2019, 5:00 p.m. @ The Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside, Portland, OR
Social Hour / Dinner / Live Auction / Oregon Poet Laureate Kim Stafford
A note on ticket prices:
When you register, you'll notice three prices for tickets: $90, $60, and $30. These tickets are the same: they each get you into Hellraiser and include two free drinks, appetizers, a full buffet dinner, and access to our live program featuring an auction and presentation from Oregon Poet Laureate Kim Stafford. Score!
So why the different prices? The cost to GHCC for food and beverage is $90 per guest, and conventional fundraising wisdom says you must not lose money! on these. But at GHCC, we strive to be open and accessible. We've whipped up an awesome party, and we want you to be there--and understand that $90 or even $60 can be too expensive for some.
Please, pay what seems fair to you. Pay what you can afford. It all goes to a great cause.
Note: this event is not open to minors.
Keynote Speaker Kim Stafford
We are sorry to announce that our original keynote speaker, Kathleen Dean Moore, has shattered her ankle and will be in surgery prior to our event, forcing her to bow out. We're wishing Kathleen the best in her recovery!
Replacing her will be another of the Pacific Northwest's finest minds, Oregon Poet Laureate Kim Stafford. Kim directs the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark College, and is the author of a dozen books, including The Muses Among Us. He has taught writing in Scotland, Italy, and Bhutan. In May 2018 he was named Oregon’s 9th Poet Laureate by Governor Kate Brown.
We thank you for your understanding about this unanticipated change of events, and hope that you are as thrilled to hear Kim's presentation as we are!
Here’s how it works: We're selling just 100 Golden Raffle Tickets. When you buy yours, you choose one amazing vacation from our live auction travel packages (below). We’ll draw the winning ticket just before the auction on June 1st, and award the chosen package to the raffle winner. You do not need to be present to win, making this a wonderful way to raise some hell for conservation in the Greater Hells Canyon Region, even if you're unable to be there in person.
These fun travel packages will be auctioned off live on June 1st--start planning your future vacation today!

Location and Parking
Since booking our event, June 1st has become a busier evening in Portland: there will also be a Timbers game, and the Starlight Parade starting at 8:30 p.m.
To reduce parking and traffic conflicts with these events, we're kicking off our event early, at 5:00 p.m. If you are driving, please allow some time for parking. We will be emailing the location of several nearby garages to attendees. Please also consider using a ride share service, the streetcar, walking, or riding your bike. We are doing everything we can to make attending our event as easy as possible.
And, we should be finishing our event in time for you to catch the parade several blocks away, should you wish!
Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible! If you are interested in sponsoring this event, please email Kirsten.
