It's time to start planning a 2022 hike on the Blue Mountains Trail. We recently published the season's updated hiking maps and databook, available upon request. More updates, including upcoming workshops in Sumpter and La Grande happening this month are included below.
The Blue Mountains Trail traverses a long legacy of human use, extending from the Native Americans whose livelihoods and cultural traditions have been sustained from these lands since time immemorial. Western settlement altered these lands in a myriad of ways that we will see for future generations.
Most people this year will attempt to section hike the more well-established and less-exposed sections of the Blue Mountains Trail, and some highly experienced thru hikers have begun their preparations to take on the full trail.
Since announcing the Blue Mountains Trail in November of last year, we've been busy updating the route, adding to the website, and preparing for more people to come hike the trail this coming summer.
